Crafty Fashion

I'm a sucker for following the big fashion weeks in New York and Europe. This season there seems to be a crazy amount of hand knitted and crochet pieces, particularly in New York and London. I thought I'd post some...

Inspiring you to pick up some knitting needles? I wonder if the trend will continue in Paris next week? Not sure about using granny squares so literally (Christopher Kane and House of Holland) - not a lot of extrapolation going on there.
Also worth checking out are two amazing macramé skirts included in Proenza Schouler's sublime show.
See you on the 2nd.

First session for 2011

Last Wednesday we gathered for our first PCE session of 2011 - it felt good to be crafting in the hall again. Thanks to those who came along, I really enjoyed your company. Some of the projects underway...

Tracey is knitting a cushion cover, something she recommends learner and casual knitters do. The pattern is from "25 cushions to knit" by Debbie Abrahams...

Kate and I made some bags in preparation for her imminent birth. [Congratulations to Kate, Stu and Mackenzie. I can't wait to meet little Jay]

I started making a dress for a friend's baby, using an old table cloth...

The Hannah Slade knitting machine cranked up again. Not sure what she is making - something striped and very cute no doubt.

Clare has nearly completed her needlework piece - so beautiful.

She also brought along some felt shapes. We were wondering whether you needed to blanket stitch around each piece. I've since looked at a few pieces online (see one below) which seem to have been simply slip-stitched.

 Important crafting sustenance...

The next session is on the 2nd of March. We'd love to see you there, come along and make something!
