Thanks to everyone who came along to the first Piha Craft Exchange (PCE). Hannah and I really enjoyed the evening and look forward to the next one. It rekindled our love of making things, so much so that we're considering holding the session more regularly than planned. It's easy to lose momentum with a craft project if you can only manage to sit down with it once a month. Perhaps it's my post-natal brain state but I forget where I'm up to! So maybe every 2 or 3 weeks - we'd love some feedback on that one.
Here are a few snaps I took of the various projects on the go...
Anissa has added a beautiful applique tree to some cord trousers she made. She brought along a yummy basket full of vintage fabric and some great books - Weekend Sewing Projects and a very inspiring Japanese pattern book.
Anita cut out a classic 6-gore skirt (the hall's trestle tables are very handy - especially for someone like me who can't find a clear tabletop at home).
Tasha got a knitting lesson from Norma - thanks Norma! - and has started a scarf using some beautiful blue/green yarn.
Hannah put the finishing touches on a cute jacket she knitted for her niece.
Claire and I worked on our crochet projects (dish cloth and afghan cushion cover).
Anna S and Sue did some mending which put the sewing machine we bought for the PCE through its paces. It seemed to do the trick so if you have some mending to do or you'd like to have a go on a machine it would be great if you could join us at the next session. At this stage it will be on the 21st of July - but that is to be confirmed - stay tuned.
Thanks again for coming, it was a lot of fun (craft-porn even got a mention!)
